Folsom EcoHousing

A Family-Friendly Green Neighborhood

NEWS and EVENTS

You are invited to join the members of Folsom EcoHousing at our monthly site tours, potlucks, and business meetings.

Site
Tours
are held the second or third Saturday of each month, at 11 am.  We meet at Karen's Bakery Cafe at 705 Gold Lake Drive in Folsom, at the corner of Leidesdorff Street, just opposite the parking garage.  We'll walk over to the property for a 30 minute tour.  Afterwards, you are invited to join us for lunch.

The next Site Tour will be on Saturday, February 11th, at 11 am.  To reserve a place, call Marty at (916) 967-2472 or email mmaskall at pacbell.net.  For a map and directions, download the Tour Flyer (240K pdf).

February 26th Conflict Resolution Training:  John Goldberg, an experienced trainer and long-time cohousing resident, will lead a free Conflict Resolution training on Sunday, February 26th, from 1 to 4 pm, at the Southside Park Cohousing Common House in Sacramento.

The training will focus on:

* Practicing approaches to managing conflict and experimenting with alternative approaches during role plays involving conflict

* Practicing open, honest communication and receiving feedback on communication.

Conflict management and resolution are among the most important skills cohousers need to design and run their communities. Learning different approaches to conflict, and being able to engage in open, honest communication in conflict situations, are key to creating successful cohousing communities.

Registration info:  You are invited to join us for the training and/or dinner immediately afterwards, from 4 to 6 pm, at Vallejo's at 4th & S Streets.  To register, call Fran at (916) 383-3852 or email fkennedy100 at yahoo.com.

Project Status:  Our project was unanimously approved by the City of Folsom's Traffic Safety Committee on April 28th, 2011. We appeared before the Historic District Commission on August 17th, 2011.  They liked our concept, but they wanted us to add more parking.  They also wanted a more historic look for the building facing Leidesdorff Street.  We are working on that.  We will go back to them for approval, probably in March 2012.  We hope to be approved by the City Council by April 2012.
