Folsom EcoHousing

A Family-Friendly Green Neighborhood

OUR MEMBERS

The people in Folsom EcoHousing are mostly Sacramento County residents -- single, married, with children and without, toddlers to seniors, working families, and retirees.  We plan to take advantage of pooled ideas, talents, and resources to guide us as we design and build homes that we want to live in, with an eye toward making sure we can all afford to move in once they're built.  We are not developers looking to make a profit developing this land for "the market." We have worked together for several years to plan our neighborhood and homes.  By discussing our vision and values, we have been able to focus on the aspects of our new community that are most important to us.  With these guidelines, we have worked hard to keep our design within reach of all members.

We want to live in a multi-generational, child-friendly environment within easy walking distance of shopping, transit, and schools. We value energy and resource-efficient design, good architecture, and natural beauty.  We have no common political or religious orientation, only shared vision and values and a desire to live in a neighborhood of our own design.

MARTY MASKALL  is a web designer, author, and publisher.  When she visited Sacramento Cohousing several years ago, she fell in love with the beautiful common green and the attractive homes opening onto the central courtyard.  She was inspired to create Folsom EcoHousing by her vision of a friendly community where neighbors know and care about each other.  She loves birdwatching, hiking, and traveling, and she is a member of the Sunrise Center Toastmasters Club.  She lives in Fair Oaks and has been active in raising money to protect the Fair Oaks Bluff.

GREG, TIFFANY & ISABELLE KELLY  value the sense of community and family-friendly environment that cohousing offers.  Greg has completed his Master's Degree in Counseling at CSUS.  Tiffany works as a Development Manager for a local non-profit.   Isabelle enjoys grade school and dressing up as a princess. They live in Carmichael, and their favorite family outing is walking along the American River Parkway.

BOBBI MONTROSS:   Born and educated in the Midwest, Bobbi is a retired High School teacher and adoring Great Grandmother. She keeps busy with activities like scuba diving, skiing, and tap dancing. Bobbi is a 40 year resident of Citrus Heights and world traveler. Her most memorable trip was an African Safari in Tanzania. She is currently employed by a publishing company.

NORMA EUGENIO  is from Sao Paulo, Brazil.  She has lived in California for five years and has studied at Rudolf Steiner College. Formerly an English teacher in Sao Paulo, she now teaches Portuguese to both adults and children.  She likes the balance of privacy and community and the lifestyle that cohousing offers.  She lives in North Highlands.

JACK & FRAN KENNEDY:  Jack is a retired Education Finance Administrator with the State Department of Education; and Fran is a retired Elementary School Teacher with the San Juan Unified School District. They served as Peace Corps Volunteers in India and have worked for several years in Africa on educational development projects. Their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren live in Southside Park Cohousing in Sacramento, and Fran & Jack have been inspired by their cooperative living experiences.  They live in the College Greens neighborhood of Sacramento.
